An estimated 27 million people worldwide are still suffering what appears to be long-term negative effects on their sense of taste and/or smell after contractingCOVID-19.
According to new research published Wednesday inThe BMJ(the British Medical Association’s peer-reviewed medical journal), “about 5% ofpeople report smelland taste dysfunction six months after COVID-19.”
The journal notes that about 550 million people have reported contracting COVID-19 globally, putting that 5% at an estimated 27 million.

A woman who went for a horseback ride in Montana has not been seen or heard from in days, according to local authorities.
Sheriff-Coroner Leo C. Dutton said Rouns’ last known contact was made around 4:20 p.m. that afternoon when she took a picture on Snapchat, per KXLH.

The Allentown Fire Department “responded to a medical call” at Happy Smiles Learning Center on Tuesday morning, the citywrotein a statement.
“When AFD arrived on the scene to treat the unconscious child, a carbon monoxide (CO) monitor on the firefighter’s equipment started beeping and alerted the team to an issue,” read the city’s statement.
Afterwards, the firefighter went to the meter, which indicated there were “dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide in the building.
