2-Year-Old Child Leaves Home After Parents Put Her to Bed, Then Gets Struck and Killed by Car

A 2-year-old child died after slipping out of a Michigan home undetected after her parents put her to bed for the night.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, Michigan State Police First District released astatementvia X (formerly known as Twitter), announcing the sad news of the child’s death.

According to the MSPFD, the incident took place on Friday, Sept. 13, at approximately 8:20 p.m. local time. When troopers arrived at the scene of the crash in Allen Township, Hillsdale County, they “found a two year old female toddler lying in the road.”

First responders and troopers assisted with performing life-saving measures until EMS arrived. The toddler was transported to Hillsdale Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to police.

MSPFD added that both of the child’s parents were present and “working around the home [when] the child got out of her bed and walked out of the house.”

Though the investigation remains ongoing, police said that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
