WSVN interviewed both inmates, who explained how Link was able to get pregnant while both parents were in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.
Link told the outlet that she and Depaz were able to speak to each other through the air conditioner vent in her cell. They also began passing notes and pictures to each other and a romantic relationship began.
The two used bedding to make a line between their two vents, which Depaz tells WSVN that he then used to pass semen rolled in Saran wrap to Link in her cell.
“He would kind of like roll it up almost like a cigarette and he would attach it to the line that we had in the vent and I would pull it through,” Link told the station. “From there, I had placed it inside of, you know, the yeast infection applicators? I had placed it inside of there and then from there, yeah, I administered it.”

Eventually, Link became pregnant with Depaz’s child, who was born in June and now lives with his mother.
“I can’t believe it worked," Link reportedly said. “I think everything happened for a reason.”
Depaz told the outlet that Link getting pregnant, despite the two never having touched, was like “the Virgin Mary.”
The pair are now in different jails, according to jail records, but WSVN reports that they still communicate over the phone and have video visits with their daughter.
Court records indicate that Depaz’s murder trial is currently scheduled for May 2025. Link’s has not yet been scheduled.
