Raven-Symonéis remembering her late brother Blaize Pearman.
As theRaven’s Homeactress acknowledged her 38th birthday in December, she announced thather younger brother died at age 31last month.
“Thank you the all the love yesterday. It was felt beyond. Hard to fully celebrate knowing that I’m here and he is not,” she wrote on social media.
In the video message shared to followers on her Instagram feed, she added, “It was a little bittersweet for me to be honest, because last month I lost my brother, Blaize,” theRaven’s Homestar revealed. “He was battling colon cancer for about two years and he is in a better place now. He’s loved and missed and the emotions that have been weaving in and out — of my body and mind and my family — have been a roller coaster.”
Though Blaize did not have a public-facing job like his big sister, he often walked red carpets with her and shared a look into their relationship on Instagram.

Raven-Symoné and her brother Blaize were almost exactly six years apart in age. In fact, they were both Sagittariuses: theThat’s So Ravenactress was born on Dec. 10 and Blaize was born on Dec. 16.

Raven-Symoné is the only daughter ofher parents Lydia Gaulden and Christopher B. Pearman, and Blaize was their only son. Raven-Symoné has spoken highly of her parents, crediting them for keeping her grounded amid her rise to stardom at a young age.
“My parents taught me to keep my private life private to the best of my ability,” she toldOprah Winfreyin anOctober 2014 interview. “They showed me all the role models out there that I could turn into and what I want for myself in the future.”

Though Blaize wasn’t in the entertainment industry like his sister, he did support her at various events through the years. One of their earliest appearances together was at a Helping Hands event in 1992 (when Blaize was just a few months old). In the throwback photo, a young Raven-Symoné can be seen kissing her little brother on the cheek as he sits in his stroller.
Almost a decade later, the duo stepped out together again as they attended the premiere of Raven-Symoné’s 2001 filmDr. Dolittle 2. As they walked the red carpet hand-in-hand, they were photographed sporting coordinating sunglasses and denim looks.
The following year, Blaize and his mother Lydia accompanied Raven-Symoné to the 2002 NAACP Image Awards, where she was nominated for outstanding youth actor/actress for her role in the aforementioned Eddie Murphy film.
As Raven-Symoné announced her brother’s death in December 2023, she revealed that he had colon cancer for about two years. “He is in a better place now,” she said in the video message shared to followers on her Instagram feed.
“His birthday is Dec. 16 and forever will be,” she said. “I love you, guys. My family on Instagram, my family at home and my family and friends. You guys have been such an amazing support system and I love you all.”
