Anne Hathawayis headed “back to Genovia!”
The Oscar winner, 41, reacted to the news thatThe Princess Diaries 3is officially happening in a new Instagram video on Friday, Oct. 4. TheDevil Wears Pradastar’s reaction came hours after directorAdele Limconfirmed toVarietythat a third installment of the film series was underway.
The video concludes with Hathaway holding up three fingers and saying, “Three,” before adding, “Shut up.” Then, the clip plays Myra’s “Miracles Happen (When You Believe)” song, which was used in the original film.
Several people flooded Hathaway’s comment section, includingKelly Clarkson, who wrote “Already seated queen 🍿👑." TheAmerican Idolalum’s fifth single, “Breakaway,” was the first single on the second film’s soundtrack.
“THE QUEEN OF GENOVIA HAS CONFIRMED SHE WILL RETURN,” commented one user, adding, “I’m seated. Quite frankly, I’ve never been more seated!!!”

Lim, who directedJoy Ridedirector and co-wroteCrazy Rich Asians, will direct the upcoming Disney film.

In March, Andrews, 89, toldTODAY.comabout potentially reprising her role, “It’s quite a long time now since the twoDiarieswere done, and I’m not sure, but sometimes it’s best to leave a good thing alone. I don’t like it when people milk and milk and milk the subject, you know, till it’s dead.”
“I’d be very happy if we did do another one,” theSound of Musicstar added.
Hathaway told PEOPLE in January 2023it was “thrilling” to “see the level of excitement” fans had for the possibility of athird movie.
“It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things.”
