At 11:45 a.m., campus police received a call about an active shooter, Adam Garcia, Vice President of Public Safety Services and Director of University Police Services Southern Command at UNLV said at a Wednesday press conference. Subsequently, police “engaged the suspect,” who is now dead, Garcia said.
Shortly before noon on Tuesday, the school’s official account on X also posted an alert, urging anyone on campus to evacuate to a safe area, saying there was a report of a shooting at Beam Hall. The school followed that post up with another post saying there were reports of additional shots fired in the Student Union.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
