Atlanta Man Who Killed 'Longtime Friend' Over $35 Debt Sentenced to Life in Prison

An Atlanta man has been sentenced to life in prison after fatally shooting his longtime friend over a $35 debt.

Carter shot and killed Quinlan Parker on Jan. 28, 2022. Police responded to a call of a person shot at an Atlanta apartment and found Parker, 48, dead from a gunshot wound to his chest.

Prior to Parker’s death, Carter had arrived at his apartment, where his wife and stepdaughter also were at the time. The “longtime friends” got into an argument over money that Parker borrowed from Carter “a few weeks earlier,” per the release, and Parker’s stepdaughter began recording the altercation on her phone after she “heard yelling.”

Parker’s wife performed CPR on her husband before paramedics arrived but he did not survive the gunshot wound. Parker owed Carter $35, according to the release.
