“There are two people in the car… They are deceased,” San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said at a Tuesday night press conference, saying that the authorities believe the bodies belong to Savanah Nicole Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22,CBS Newsreported.

McManus reportedly called the scene “perplexing.”

On Wednesday, the police department said both victims had suffered a gunshot wound, according to reports from theSan Antonio Express-NewsandKSAT, and added that an unborn child was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Soto was reported missing Friday after she missed an appointment to induce her labor, reportedKENS5andNBC News.

Police said Tuesday night that they are investigating the incident as a possible murder.

“She had everything ready for her little boy,” Soto’s mother told KENS5 before the body was discovered, and that Soto “was thrilled and excited about being a mom."
