According to NBC affiliateKCRA, the victim’s aunt described him as “smart, very intelligent, kind, loving, respectful” and as someone with “a whole life to live.”
“He wasn’t even outside 15 minutes,” she said, adding that her nephew went outside to ride his bike before the shooting. “And the little boy shot my nephew.”
“My nephew’s blood is on y’all’s hands,” she added. “Y’all allowed y’all son to do this to my 10-year-old nephew.”
Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper wrote on X(formerly Twitter)that the child’s death was “completely avoidable.”
