Christie Brinkley and Chevy Chase Hang Out 41 Years After Starring inNational Lampoon’s VacationTogether

Christie BrinkleyandChevy Chaseare back on the road again!

On Monday, Aug. 26, the pair — who tempted fate during a road trip inNational Lampoon’s Vacation— reunited more than 40 years later for a few photos. In the images, which Brinkley, 70, shared in a jointInstagram carouselwith Chase, 80, the former costars smiled for car selfies.

“Vacation is always over too soon! 🏎️@chevychase” the supermodel captioned the set of pictures, plus a video of them smiling as they waved to the camera.

Viewers first met the duo in the 1983 classic comedy when Clark Griswold (Chase) and his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), were driving from Illinois to a California amusement park with their two kids.

As Ellen slept in the passenger seat, a young and very flirtatious Brinkley became known simply as “The Girl in the Ferrari.”

Chase’s character found it hard to keep his eyes on the road as the blonde in the sports car beside him zoomed between lanes while playing with her hair, throwing him suggestive glances all the way.

Things heated up in the film when the two happened to stop at the same destination during their travels, and a brief encounter in a bar led to Ellen catching her husband skinny dipping in a pool with Brinkley’s character.

In December 2023, Chase reunited with D’Angelo, as well asRandy Quaidand Miriam Flynn atChristmas Con 2023in Edison, New Jersey, in honor of their 1989 filmNational Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Later that month, the Christmas classic’s director, Jeremiah S. Chechik, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about howPEOPLE made a cameo in the 1989 comedy.

“Yes, it’s me,” Chechik, 69, said of himself appearing on a fake PEOPLE magazine cover that was designed specifically for the film.

“I think I was the easiest to get permission to do that,” he said at the time. “It was kind of a fun way of Hitchcock-ing myself into the film without a walk-on.”

The one-of-a-kind cover appears in a scene approximately 11 minutes into the film as Clark and Ellen are seen lying in bed as they discuss their holiday plans.

Clark, who just finished attempting to chop down a Christmas tree, has difficulty turning the faux PEOPLE magazine pages because tree sap is still stuck to his fingers.

Ellen suggests “it’s not too late to change our plans,” while an unfazed Clark agrees, adding, “great.”
