Christina Milian Reveals Why She Moved with Her Family from Hollywood to France: 'I Love It There'

Christina Milianis opening up about her family’s big move.

Appearing onThe Jennifer Hudson Showon Tuesday, Nov. 5, the singer, 43, revealed why she and her family moved from Hollywood to France.

“My husband is French and we’ve been together for over seven or eight years and for like the last three or four years, we were commuting back and forth every six months,” she said. “And then we decided to commit to it last year because our kids were going to go to school.”

Milian has been married to singerMatt Pokora, 39, since 2020. The couple share sons Isaiah, 4, and Kenna, 3. Milian is also the mother of daughter Violet, 14, whom she shares with exThe-Dream.

“I love it out there!” the mother of three gushed about her move to France. “So our children, they’re three, four and of course Violet is 14, they’re all going to school in Paris. What better than an opportunity than that.”

Milian also showed off some of her French skills, revealing that she has been working on learning the language.

“So I speak some, not that little, but I actually have been working on it for a year,” she said. “I had been challenged so many times. I’d been at like restaurants and having dinner with people, everyone’s speaking French.”

She continued, “And then I didn’t really care because I love to eat so I would just like everybody talk, I’m just gonna’ eat away and I eat everything.”

“He came over and started talking to my husband first in English and then all of a sudden it turned into French and this was a date night,” she continued. “And next thing I know for two hours straight, they were just speaking French.”

She added that it taught her not to make excuses and instead challenge herself to learn French.

“I’m Franglish now,” Milian joked.

The musician also opened up about how she and her husband met in the summer of 2017.

Milian said that although she was enjoying her single life, she “prayed, made some sacrifices, spoke to God and I said, ‘Lord, I’m gonna just give all my time to my daughter, you be the man in our life.’ ”

“ ‘And help me find, like when the time comes, I’m not forcing it, allow me the opportunity to see it.’ And I mean, I was in France dancing away at a restaurant,” she recalled, adding that a host had been trying to get her to meet someone, but she wasn’t interested as she knew “it was just another pop star.”

Milian went on to say that she got his number before later looking him up and finding out that they shared a Sept. 26 birthday.

“So it was our birthday that really brought us together,” she added before revealing that she used to have a type and decided to be more open when it came to finding love.
