Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, theRustarmorer who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for theshooting deathofHalyna Hutchins, has reportedly reached a plea deal on a separate felony charge.
Last year, a grand jury indicted Gutierrez-Reed, now 27, on a felony charge of bringing a firearm into a New Mexico bar on Oct. 1, 2021.
Prior to news of the agreement, the First Judicial District Court of New Mexico was expecting to hear arguments from Gutierrez-Reed’s legal team on Sept. 5 about dismissing this charge.

“Upon successfully circumventing the security at the bar she went into the restroom and made a selfie video stating, ‘They checked my purse, but they didn’t check my butt cheeks! ‘Wah wah wah,’ ” those court documents asserted. “At the same time that she was speaking, she held up a nickel-plated semi-automatic pistol in front of the camera.”
Gutierrez-Reed was the weapons handler on the Western filmRust. A prop gun was loaded with live rounds on the set when actorAlec Baldwinwas holding it and it discharged, killing cinematographer Hutchins, 42.
She is alreadyserving an 18-month sentenceat a New Mexico women’s correctional facility after her sentencing hearing in theRustcase on April 15. That sentencing marked the maximum penalty following herconvictionon an involuntary manslaughter charge in March.
After Baldwin’scriminal case was dismissed mid-trialin July, Gutierrez-Reed’s attorneys sent a motion to the court asking that she eitherreceive a new trial or have her conviction dismissedin light of the misconduct discovered during Baldwin’s trial.
