“That’s what makes me feel like, oh my gosh,” continues Brooks. “So I’ve always got my ten toes down. At this point, I feel and know that I’m deserving, but that’s why I get emotional.”

With the 96th annual Academy Awardsonly days away,The Color Purplestar gave PEOPLE a sneak peek of her nails, which currently have a number 26 painted on them because she’s “the 26th Black woman to be Oscar-nominated for supporting actress.”
