Dave Grohl Barbecues for More Than 24 Hours to Feed the Homeless During 2024 Super Bowl

The Foo Fighters frontman, 55, and his friends donated more than 24 hours of their time to help feed the homeless.

On Sunday, Los Angeles non-profit Hope the Mission — which aims to “prevent, reduce and eliminate poverty, hunger and homelessness, perits website— shared anInstagram Reelfeaturing Grohl and his pals barbecuing 70 pork butts for The Woodlands Family Shelter in Woodland Hills, California.

In the series of clips, the “Everlong” artist can be seen overseeing the making of barbecue sauce and preparing pulled pork sandwiches for people in need.

“Happy Super Bowl Sunday from@davestruestoriesand Hope the Mission!” the post’s caption read. “Dave and his pals BBQ’d 70 pork butts for 24+ hours 😳 Right now we are here at The Woodlands Family Shelter sharing this delicious meal with our participants. This isn’t the first time Grohl has shown his charitable side

In December, he took some time off Foo Fighters' tourto volunteer in Melbourne, perDaily Mail, while the legendary rock group — comprised of lead vocalist/guitarist/songwrier Grohl, bass guitarist Nate Mendel, lead guitarist Chris Shiflett and rhythm guitarist Pat Smear, organist Rami Jaffee, and drummer Josh Freese — was on tour in Australia.

According to theDaily Mail, the rocker was serving food for several hours at Melbourne’s Federation Square location.

In February 2023, Grohl also got behind the grill to support Hope the Mission and feed the homeless — barbecuing for 24 hours in L.A. At the time, a representative at the nonprofitconfirmed to PEOPLEthat the former Nirvana drummer and some friends cooked more than 500 meals for three shelters in the city.

Grohl arrived with a massive smoker trailer in tow, which they used to cook smoked brisket, ribs, pork butts and sides like coleslaw and barbecue beans. The crew also prepared food out of the kitchen at theTrebek Center,a skating-rink-turned-homeless-shelter that the lateAlex Trebeksupported.

The 19-time Grammy winner personally paid for all the expenses and barbecued outside during a rainstorm. While the meat was smoking, he took naps in the parking lot, perTMZ.
