A Michigan man who is facing a trespassing charge could spend over a year behind bars after he told a judge to “kiss my ass.”
It marks the second time Judge J. Cedric Simpson has appeared in a viral court video. In May, Simpson presided over a hearing for a manaccused of driving with a suspended licensewho called into court virtually while behind the wheel of a car.
The latest incident, which was once again live streamed, was during a hearing for Darrell Lester Jarrell, who, according to jail records, is charged with trespassing in Washtenaw County, Mich.
“I’m tired of this state, I’m ready to leave this state as soon as possible,” he said, before cursing at the judge.

Jail records indicate that Jarrell is currently in custody. It is not immediately clear if he has entered a plea to the trespassing charge, a misdemeanor.

During the exchange between Jarrell and Simpson, the judge moved onto the next hearing, for a man who witnessed the entire incident on Zoom.
The man appeared dumbfounded during the entire exchange, with his mouth wide open as Jarrell received well over a year in jail for his outburst.
As the second man’s hearing was set to begin, he and Simpson both started to laugh in seeming disbelief.
