Man v. Food, of course, is Richman’s popular, long-running Travel Channel series. Goldman is best known for his Food Network series,Ace of Cakes.
Goldman said he found the mix-up “funny” — and knew how to still make the moment special for the woman. “I call Adam Richman and I put him on speakerphone. I explained to him the whole scenario. This is what’s happening right now. So then he then starts talking to the lady and she starts looking confused. I was like, ‘Man v. Food,’ " he recounted. “Then she looks at me and I was like, ‘Ace of Cakes’. . . . Then she got it. She knew she’d seen me somewhere, but I was like a different Jew. Really funny.”
Food Network fans have watchedDuff create hundreds of over-the-top cakesat his Baltimore, Maryland, bakery,Charm City Cakes, for 10 seasons onAce of Cakes. The series ended in 2011, but Goldman still regularly appears on the network’s competition series, among other programming.
During his interview with PEOPLE, Goldman was candid about his new focus: his family. Goldmanmarried wife Johnna in 2019, and they share one child, Josephine, 2. His life, he said, looks different than he ever imagined.

“My parents had areally nasty divorce, and I was like, ‘Cool. I don’t ever want any of that,’” he said. “Then I met my wife, and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s how you’re supposed to feel about people.’”
