Cameron Suttonhas surrendered to authorities weeks after being issued a domestic violence arrest warrant.
“After weeks of evading law enforcement, this man has finally made the right choice to turn himself in,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in astatement.
The sheriff added, “Domestic violence has no place in our community, and no one is above the law here in Hillsborough County. My thoughts are with this woman as she continues to heal from this man’s gruesome actions.”

The sheriff’s office told the outlet that the woman had several injuries when officers arrived.
In a statement, the Detroit Lions organization previously noted that it “became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton” on March 20. The team added that they “will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time.”
Detroit thenreleased Sutton from the teamon March 21. As theAssociated Pressnoted, he was in the midst of a $33 million, three-year deal with the franchise. He was previously signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the days that followed, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said that Sutton’s attorney contacted them on March 25 “to inform us that he was going to Tampa to turn himself into authorities.”
Per the police, “it wasn’t until today, March 31, 2024, at 8:24 p.m. that Sutton arrived to the Orient Road Jail to turn himself in.”
