A grandmother in Ohio is accused of intentionally shooting her five-month-old granddaughter in the face.

Mia Desiree Harris, 43, is facing multiple charges of felonious assault in connection with the shooting of the infant early Saturday, according to a Butler County Sheriff press release.

Police were called to a townhouse on Dutch view Court in Liberty Township for a report of “an infant being shot” around 1:50 a.m. on Dec. 9, the release states.

At the scene, officers found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken to UC West Chester Hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

After the shooting, authorities said, Harris allegedly fled the area and was later arrested without incident, according to the release.

Harris “then shot [the infant] in the head at close range while laying on the bed,” according to the complaint.

According to FOX19 NOW, Harris’s bond was set at $1.5 million Monday.

A court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday. It is unclear if Harris has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
