Hoda Kotbis keeping her kids busy, even in the quiet moments.
On Monday’s episode ofToday, the co-host, 59, talked about a moment over the weekend where she noticed daughtersHope, 4, andHaley, 6, “sitting around and not doing anything.”
“You know that feeling when you’re looking around and everyone’s blobbing?” she asked co-hostJenna Bush Hager.
Kotb laughed as she explained that she set a timer to go off every 15 minutes. “I said, ‘Every 15 minutes, we’re going to go outside. We’re gonna run to the end [of the street] tag this pole and come back.'”
Noting that they were away from home in the city, she added her girls were barefoot as they made the dash in the cold. “The kids were delighted,” she said, noting the girls took turns cheering each other on.

Kotb — who welcomed her first child at 52 — shares her daughters, whom she adopted, with ex-fiancéJoel Schiffman, from whom shesplit in January 2022.
Of the comment, Kotb says, “I think a lot of people do that, like you want to beat them to the punch, so you make the joke about, oh, I’m an older mom or if you feel heavy … you make the joke about it. I was always a fat kid. That’s the joke you make so no one else can make it.”
But the television host went on to share that she has never felt the need to do the same when it comes to her own situation.

“I am so happy and fulfilled with my decision that I don’t feel any ounce of shame,” she said.
“I love that you’re totally secure in it,” Bush Hager, 42, continued to her co-host, who called her daughters “the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
