Speaking at theKung Fu Panda 4premierein Los Angeles on Sunday, Black, 54, — who plays the role of Po in the upcoming movie — revealed the origins ofthe cover, which he put together with his friend andTenacious Dbandmate,Kyle Gass, 63.
“Yeah. So, people don’t know … I don’t even know if I’m allowed to say. I’m just going to give you the scoop, but the director, Mike, said, ‘Hey. We’d love to have a Tenacious D song …,’ Black told reporters. “That’s Mike right there … ‘at the end credits. Will you do a song?’ ”

Black continued that he and Gass “cranked out a Tenacious D version of, and it’s going to be at the end credits.”
“Then we’re like, ‘Hey. Let’s do a music video on the red carpet, black and white carpet, so that’s what we’re doing,’ ” he added.

In the video for the song, which was shared onTikTokearlier this month, Black and Gass dance in a living room as they move to the sounds of an electric guitar and theSchool of Rockstar’s vocals.
Black then holds up a fist with the word “BABY” written across his fingers. “Tenacious B! 🐼,” hisTikTokandInstagramcaptions read, while on X (formerly known as Twitter),the band wrote, “STILL BELIEVE 🐼💥🐯.”
Fans speculated that the song was connected toKung Fu Panda 4thanks to the panda emojis attached to the post.
