Joanna Gainesis lending a helping hand when it comes to her son Drake’s new college apartment!
On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Magnolia Network co-founder, 46, offered a sneak peek inside her eldest son Drake’s new abode through a series of photos and videos shared to herInstagram Stories. Along with the 19-year-old, Joanna shares four more children — daughters Ella, 17, and Emmie, 14, and sons Duke, 16, and Crew, 6 — with husbandChip Gaines, 49.
TheFixer Upperstar began the mini tour with a shot of Drake’s fridge that was nearly empty except for a bottle of ranch dressing. “College apartment move in day,” she wrote in green text over the photo.

In the next few clips, scenes of her son’s impressive decor pan onto the screen. A rustic coffee table is adorned with a candle, books, and a brown leather baseball in one shot.

Joanna shared another angle of the coffee table which revealed a contraption that she first thought was a “ring toss for good ol’ fashion fun,” she wrote in the caption. She then clarified what it actually was according to her son: “Mom, this is a drinking game.”

The tour continued with more snaps of cozy candles and books titledCrap TaxidermyandThe Fly Fisher. A houseplant can also be seen in the corner of one shot.

To add an extra special touch to the space, Joanna slipped in a copy of one of her cookbooks,Magnolia Table, Volume 3, in Drake’s kitchen. “Snuck that one in there for color,” she wrote over the clip.

“Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game,” the wooden sign read. She then panned over to a polaroid photo of her posing with her son as she signed the video, “Love, Mom.”

In November 2023, Joanna and Chip opened up to PEOPLE about what it was like to watchDrake leave for collegewhile also seeing Crew, who was 5 at the time, grow up.
“I think the greatest gift of having a kid go off to college and having a 5-year-old toddler, is kind of that perspective of it’s not here forever,” Joanna told PEOPLE. “Don’t take it for granted, and cherish these moments.

He continued, “Because it seems like time was standing still, at the time, but then when you see your boy go off to college for real — well then, you certainly shift your attention to little Crew, and want to really practically live as if he were going to go off to college tomorrow, so we can enjoy and appreciate every moment.”
