“I think it’s unfortunate anyone would feel that way,” she said. “I had a great time making those movies no matter what anyone says.”

King and Elordi costarred as Elle Evans andNoah Flynnin the threeKissing Boothmovies, released between 2018 and 2021. The pair alsodated for over a yearleading up to the first film’s release, which made for one of Elordi’s first roles in the movie industry.

TheSaltburnandPriscillaactor recently revealed toGQthat he “didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies.”

“Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape,” he opined of the series.

In that interview, Elordi said that signing on to makeThe Kissing Booth’s sequels almost felt like “a trap” because “it can become 15 for them, none for you. You have no original ideas and you’re dead inside. So it’s a fine dance.”

The actor also reflected on the notion that he is “pretentious” about the movies that helped pave a path toward his own stardom at the time. “How is caring about your output pretentious?” he said. “But not caring, and knowingly feeding people s—, knowing that you’re making money off of people’s time, which is literally the most valuable thing that they have. How is that the cool thing?”

“I guess the silver lining is he still made people laugh and feel good,” he added at the time, noting that fans of the series have expressed to its cast how fond they are of the films.

While speaking withVarietyover the weekend, King also shared some interest at revisiting the world ofThe Kissing Boothdown the line. “If there were to be a fourth installment it would be picking up where Elle and the gang are in their fifties or something, just to drop back in with them and see where they’re at,” she said.
