Julianne Houghdebuted an ultra-short bob just one day after giving her hair a shoulder-length trim on social media.
Hough, 35, arrived at the Creative ArtsEmmy Awardson Sunday with her blonde tresses in a sleek, chin-length style tucked behind her ears — revealing that the haircut she shared on Saturday was a fake-out!
On Monday, she made the new bob Instagram-official while sharing her award-show look: a plunging Grace Ling gown and smoky eye.
Hough also cheekily nodded to her new ‘do in the caption, writing, “Keeping things short & sweet 😉.”
The actress' hairstylist,Riawna Capri, also debuted the blonde bob on her own Instagram account, writing, “Did ya seeeeee 👀 ???”
The reveal of theDancing with the Starsco-host’s cropped new ‘do was extra surprising because just a day before the Creative Arts Emmys, sherevealed that she had cut her own hair to a medium length.
On Saturday, Hough shared avideothat began with her sitting in a salon chair and saying “Alright,” as she tousles the front strands of her hair.
Rather than Capri, who was tagged in the caption, approaching to work on the actress’ tresses, however, Hough went to town on her own hair in the clip, chopping away with a coy smile.
“I’m cutting my own hair,” she said in the video while checking out her progress in the salon mirror. “Oh, that’s so fun! I like this length.”
While putting some final touches on the cut, Hough told her followers, “This is the new way, guys. You come in and you cut your own hair.”
“Well, at least I don’t second guess and I just go for it,” she added. “And that, my dears, is a seven-minute haircut.”
Alongside the post, theFootloosestar explained what inspired her to make the change.
“Out with the old energy, and in with the new,” she began the caption. “This was such a funny day — it was raining so hard, but the sun was shining and there was a double rainbow. It made me start to think about the seasons of life, and the decisions we make as we progress. Hair is such an outward expression of what those decisions are…of the internal journeys that we go through.”

She continued, “The idea of the rain pouring, which could’ve been a melancholy day, but the sun was shining so bright that it almost felt like a cleansing. (I know, I know, but seriously!) Plus a double rainbow to show a sign of prosperity and all the life that is to come. It just felt like it was the right time to cut off some of the old energy and start fresh.”
