The 2024Oscarshad a powerfulIn Memoriam segmenton Sunday, but not every late star got their full moment of recognition.
During Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony, the actors, filmmakers and Hollywood-industry individuals who died over the past year were honored during the moving portion of the show.
However, fans noticed that some stars were left out of the main segment, which included an individual slide with their photo, name and title. Instead, a group of stars were listed at the end on one collective slide.
Among those people were actorsLance Reddick,Treat Williams,Ron Cephas Jones,Suzanne Somers, andBurt Young, legendary screenwriter and producerNorman Lear, and British filmmakerTerence Davies.

On Monday, following the news, Somers' husband Alan Hamel issued a statement to PEOPLE about the segment, saying: “I respect the Academy’s decision to not include Suzanne In Memoriam. Frankly, the outpouring from millions of her fans, was the kind of In Memoriam Suzanne would have lovingly embraced.”
“She adored and respected her fans and similarly enjoyed a beautiful relationship with the media and paparazzi who elevated her career to heights rarely seen,” Hamel continued. “She debuted on Carson in 1973 with her first of 27 books and remained active and relevant until her passing. God bless Suzanne Somers.”
Celebrities likePaul Reubens,Alan Arkin,Andre Braugher,Sinéad O’ConnorandTony Bennettwere remembered for their contributions to the screen.
