Liam Neeson’s next action-packed role is as a seasoned gangster trying to make amends.

PEOPLE has the exclusive first trailer forAbsolution, teasing a Boston-set crime drama in which Neeson’s character attempts to right the wrongs of his past after serving a prison sentence.

“An aging gangster (Neeson) attempts to reconnect with his children and rectify the mistakes in his past, but the criminal underworld won’t loosen their grip willingly,” reads a synopsis.

The trailer opens with Neeson’s character seeing a doctor and admitting he has been experiencing headaches.

After the doctor expresses concerns that his head troubles could be the result of repeated concussions, Neeson’s character visits his estranged daughter and meets his grandson for the first time, before taking on a new job from a crime boss (Ron Perlman).
