Man Accused of Shooting Texas Police Chief Is at Large, 'Blue Alert' Indicates Threat to Law Enforcement

A Texas man accused of shooting a police chief is allegedly on the run.

A Blue Alert has been issued for 33-year-old Seth Altman, who has a warrant for his arrest on a charge of attempted capital murder of a peace officer, according to theLubbock Avalanche-Journal,KBTXandFOX4.

Altman is reportedly accused of shooting Rex Plant, the chief of the Memphis, Texas, police, just after 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Altman then allegedly fled the scene.

Plant was taken to a Lubbock hospital where he is in stable condition, per KBTX.

Altman is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

A Blue Alert is activated for a person who is suspected of killing or seriously wounding any law enforcement officer.
