Mark Duplassis a sore loser — just kidding!

“No, I’m not sad. No,” he back-pedals before giving his costarBilly Crudup, who won the award, his flowers.

“I prognosticated a win for Billy and I was right, so the gambler in me was super excited. And honestly, Billy is the hardest f—ing worker on that show.”

Duplass — who plays producer Charlie Black alongside Crudup’s network president Cory Ellison — continues, “You would be surprised how, despite his confidence, his just beautiful male form, he’s a deeply insecure performer.”

“He works so f—ing hard and I’m just so proud of him,” Duplass adds of his costar.

“At this point in my career, to get the opportunity to play a character like this, that people respond to, and test the limits of my ability, it’s really rare,” he said. “All of my friends are actors. I know how rare it is, so I feel grateful that I’m in the middle of my life and can appreciate this kind of chance.”

Crudup’s wife,Naomi Watts, told PEOPLE she felt “pure excitement” when he was announced as the winner. “I was very proud of him, and he works really hard on this character and loves the material and so I just felt really happy for him.”
