Mattel Announces Second Theme Park Opening in 2026 — Plus, the Unexpected City Where It’s Located

Mattel Officially Announces Opening Year for New Adventure Park That Features Barbie, Hot Wheels Attractions.

Mattelfans now have another place to party like Barbie all day long!

On Wednesday, the company announced its secondMattel Adventure Parkis in the works and will be located just outside of Kansas City in Bonner Springs, Kansas. The official opening is slated for 2026 and construction will begin later in 2024, according to a press release from Mattel.

In partnership with Epic Resort Destinations, the new park will offer similar attractions to its Glendale, Arizona location that was announced in August 2023. Thrill-seekers can look forward to Hot Wheels-inspired roller coasters like Bone Shaker: The Ultimate Ride and the Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer, while younger parkgoers can enjoy the Thomas & Friends-themed World of Sodor.

The highly-anticipated Barbie Beach House will also take shape at the new park, just like the Arizona location, along with the Barbie Dream Closet Experience where visitors can curate the perfect Barbie-approved outfit.

Fans can also step into the iconic Castle Grayskull fortress from Masters of the Universe and show off their competitive side with a game of laser tag.

“Mattel Adventure Park Kansas City will bring our iconic brands to life with epic roller coasters, family-friendly attractions, an immersive theatre, themed dining, and so much more,” Josh Silverman, Chief Franchise Officer at Mattel says.

Silverman continues, “We are thrilled to expand these themed entertainment destinations and invite new fans to experience the world of Mattel in all-new ways as they create lasting memories with loved ones.”

Mattel’s first Adventure Park was announced in August 2023 and is slated to open in 2024. Fans can take a look at the construction progress of the nine-acre site on the theme park’swebsite.
