Nicolas Cagemay not keep up his prolific working pace moving forward.
Cage, 59, recently spoke withEntertainment Tonightabout his new movieDream Scenarioand touched on his upcoming 60th birthday. While theAcademy Award-winning actor is well known for the sheer volume of films he has made — 116 onscreen credits since his first role in the 1981 television movieThe Best of Times, periMDB— Cage noted he may slow down after his next birthday in January.
“So 60 is coming up. I’d like to read a book a week,” he told the outlet, when asked about the upcoming milestone birthday. “I want to spend more time with my daughter. I’m taking stock of what’s really important. Maybe not make quite as many movies.”
Cage welcomed a daughter,August Francesca Coppola Cage, in September 2022 with his wife Riko Shibata, whom hemarried in February 2021. August is Cage’s third child; He was already a father to sons Kal-El, 18, and Weston, 32, from previous relationships.

Cage stars inDream Scenarioafter also appearing this year in the filmsSympathy for the DevilandThe Retirement Plan. InDream Scenario, he plays college professor Paul Matthews, who “finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams,” per an official synopsis of the movie.
“In many ways this movie is an analysis of fame and how it can turn on you… anyone can become famous now,” Cage shared during his interview withEntertainment Tonight. “We all have cell phones, we can videotape anybody at any moment. But more importantly, I think this movie is about dreams — I feel it’s one of my best performances.”

Cage named his youngest child after his late father, August Coppola, who died from a heart attack at age 75 in 2009, according tohis obituary. August’s younger brother,Francis Ford Coppola, isThe Godfathertrilogy director. At theToronto International Film Festivalworld premiere ofDream Scenarioin September, Cage told PEOPLE that heenjoys getting to see his father when he dreams.

“I always like it when my father shows up,” Cage said at the time. “I haven’t seen him in person since he passed on. So when he shows up, that’s always a good thing.”
