Pa. Man Arrested After Allegedly Decapitating His Father, Displaying the Head on YouTube, Police Say

“When officers arrived, they located the male deceased in the bathroom,” theDA’s office said.

According to the criminal complaint, the man — identified as Michael Mohn — “had been decapitated. A machete was observed in the bathtub, as well as a large kitchen knife.” They also found rubber gloves “with what appeared to be blood on them” in another part of the house.

Per the MTPD, “It was determined that the victim’s adult son had left the home and taken his father’s vehicle.” The police added that “with the help of multiple other agencies, Justin Mohn was located and taken into custody in Fort Indiantown Gap,” miles outside of Harrisburg.

Per the criminal complaint, members of the MTPD “received information about a video posted to YouTube” and “posted to a page with the profile picture being Justin Mohn and the name listed as Justin Mohn.”

According to Det. Kevin Platenecky, who viewed both the video and the crime scene, “the gloves, decapitated head, and room are the same as depicted in the video.”

According to both theCourier Timesand NBC News, Mohn claimed in the video that his father had been a federal employee for 20 years and described him as a “traitor.” He also attacked President Joe Biden’s administration, the Black Lives Matter movement and the LGBTQ community and called for the death of all federal officials.

In a statement to PEOPLE, a spokesperson for YouTube said it “has strict policies prohibiting graphic violence and violent extremism,” and that the video — which was uploaded and not live-streamed — “was removed for violating our graphic violence policy. Additionally, “Justin Mohn’s channel was terminated in line with our violent extremism policies.”

“Our teams are closely tracking to remove any re-uploads of the video,” the spokesperson added.

“There are a lot of unanswered questions and he’s not talking to us about the incident. Well, he’s talking, just not about this,” Middletown Police Lt. Pete Feeney told reporters, per theCourier Times.

Both the DA’s office and the police noted in their statements that there is no threat to the public and the investigation is ongoing.
