Reba McEntireteamed up with Carole King for her new sitcom’s theme song.In an interview published Thursday, Oct. 10, the country star, 69, discussed the making of the track forHappy’s Placeand how she ended up reuniting with the “You’ve Got a Friend” legend, 82, withUSA TODAY.“I emailed her and told her the situation,” McEntire told the publication. “She said that she’d love to help out.“Reba McEntire in Nashville in October 2022.Jason Kempin/Getty ImagesWhile the pair are “friends,” she admittedly hadn’t seen King in roughly four years.The “Fancy” musician and the “Where You Lead” singer ended up meeting in Los Angeles at the home of King’s daughter, Sherry Kondor, where they wrote the song.“I had the beginning and a chorus but mainly the melody,” said McEntire. “Then [King] came in and wrote the lyrics and added a melody. I said, ‘Carole, I really love my melody and I love your lyrics.’ So she said, ‘Throw them together.’ “In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in May, McEntire revealed that she would be performing the theme song forHappy Place.“Oh, definitely. I’ll be singing the theme song.
