During her headlining set at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 10, the “Espresso” singer screamed and jumped from a platform after a stray firework appeared to come very close to her, according to footage from the event’slivestream.
Carpenter, 25, was dancing when the pyrotechnics went off behind her, startling her and causing her to scream and jump forward. She then looked back and shrieked once more, covering her mouth as she ran away from the stray sparks.

“Oh my God!” she yelled as she continued running from the fireworks on the Golden Gate Park stage.
The star appeared to escape the pyrotechnics unscathed, however, finishing up her Outside Lands performance and continuing to post on social media following the festival.
Reps for Carpenter did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

For the outro — in which she adapts the end of her 2022 track to wherever she’s performing — a man came on stage with a scroll, which the pop singer then read to tease her upcoming record,Short n’ Sweet.
