In a 2019 chat with PEOPLE, Bell saidFrozen"shook all the norms” of typical princess films.

“The happily ever after is not waiting for a kiss from your prince, which has sort of been the standard in literally every Hollywood movie,” Bell said. “[Frozen] was about something that was just as deep, if not deeper, which was like the love of family.”

“There were questions along the way the whole time: is this going to be important?” Bell continued. “We felt it was, and then when it came out, seeing kids elated about it and parents elated and having the movie affect people because they were interested in this new story, this new idea, that like ‘oh yeah, let’s explore the love of family, let’s break some boundaries,’ that, to me, was progress.”

Bell, 43, is married to actorDax Shepard, with whom she hastwo daughters, Lincoln, 10, and Delta, 8.

“I love that Kristoff is a Disney leading man with a sensitive side,“Groff toldEWin 2019. “That sort of enduring, supportive partner is, I think, a beautiful thing to have in an animated movie, both as an example for women of what they deserve and for men to take a page from Kristoff’s book.”

Like his costars, Groff returned forFrozen II,also earning praise for his role on television’sLooking. In 2015, he originated the role of King George in Broadway’sHamilton, scoring another Tony nomination and a Grammy win for his work.

Groff, 38, is currently back on Broadway inMerrily We Roll Along.

“I tried for a while reading themFrozenbooks, and I thought it was so cool even though I do a horrible Anna and Elsa, but they were just over it, they didn’t want it anymore,” he said, later adding, “Usually they’re not fans of me.”

Other kids are, though: Olaf pops up in all sorts of Disney shorts, in addition toFrozen II,and Gad stayed in the Disney universe with a role in the live-actionBeauty and the Beast. He’s continued working steadily on screen and stage, too, most recently reuniting withThe Book of MormoncostarAndrew Rannellson Broadway’sGutenberg! Santino Fontana also got his start on — you guessed it! — Broadway, starring inBilly Elliot the MusicalandCinderella, among other shows, prior to voicing bad guy Prince Hans inFrozen.

“Hans is a Disney prince but he’s more than a Disney prince,“Fontana saidin a 2013 interview withScreenSlam.“There are a lot of secrets and twists and turns that we take with Hans, and you won’t see them coming, which is great, and a great thing to play, an awesome character to play. Because he’s not what he seems at first — but no one really is, in defense of Hans.”

Off-stage, Fontana, 41, is married to Jessica Hershberg, with whomhe has one 4-year-old child.
