Travis Kelce’s dad couldn’t quite put his finger onTaylor Swift’s name when he first saw her in-person.

On Friday,Ed Kelceappeared as a guest onAudacy’s 92.3The Fanin Cleveland where he opened up on his son’s famous girlfriend. During his conversation, he recalled how his introduction to the pop star, 34, went.

“When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there,” Ed began.

“Taylor walks in with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], ‘Oh my God! I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is.’ Jeez, you know, like a real idiot. And [my girlfriend] says, ‘You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot,’ " he continued.

Although he may not have been able to place her name in that moment, Ed is aware of the 12-time Grammy winner’s fanbase and impact.

The “Love Story” songstress and the Kansas City Chiefs athlete went public with their relationship in October 2023. However, when Swift was namedTime’s 2023 Person of the Yearin December, she said they were dating before then.

In fact, when she was spotted at one of Travis’ games for the first time in September, they were already “a couple.”

“I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date,” Swift added.

Earlier this month, a source exclusively told PEOPLE that the power couple is still going strong and are"really happy" together.

“They’re having a lot of fun, but they’restill seeing where it goes,” the source continued.

The pair began dating shortly after Travis revealed in late July on hisNew Heightspodcast with his older brotherJason Kelcethat he had tried to shoot his shot with Swift after one of her concerts.

The “Blank Space” singer also referenced that moment in her profile withTime, saying it “all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.”

“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time thatno one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other."
