After wiping away some tears and celebrating with his crew, Usher eventually faced the audience and started an a cappella chant of the song as he stomped his feet.

“God bless you, I love you,” he said on stage during the last show of his residency, which kicked off in July 2022.

Usher also toasted the milestone onX (formerly Twitter), where he retweeted a clip of himself speaking to Trevor Nelson in 2004. During the interview, Usher opened up about the potential of a Vegas residency, and how it wasn’t something he would write off in 20 years — an opinion he held even around the height of hisConfessionsera.

“I am such a theatrical artist,” Usher said in 2004. “I would love to be in a space… if I did decide to go to Las Vegas, it would be the most phenomenal thing you’ve ever seen in your life.”

“It wouldn’t be like, ‘Oh God, he’s washed up and this is just his opportunity to just, you know, collect as many checks as he wants to.’ No. It will be a phenomenal show.”

Reflecting on the interview Sunday, Usher gave himself some props: “I saw it then…look at me now.”

Usher has had a lot to celebrate in recent weeks, as he also teamed up with Jungkook ofBTSfor a remix to his single “Standing Next to You.”

The musician promoted the track, initially featured on Jungkook’s solo debut albumGolden,on Instagram Sunday alongside several images of the duo. “Standing Next to You (Usher Remix) is OUT NOW!! Shoutout my brother Jung Kook@bts.bighitofficial🙏🏾,” Usher wrote.

Usher also teamed up withJanelle Monáelast month — not for a new song, but rather a sweet moment during his long-running residency. Just as he did for the likes ofDoja Catand Jessica Alba before her, Usher serenaded Monáe during the show.

For his performance of “Superstar," Usherslow-danced with the fellow musician, who wrote that he’d put on an “incredible show."
