Virginia Tech Student, 20, Reported Missing After He Didn’t Arrive at Parents’ House

A 20-year-old Virginia Tech student was reported missing,the universitysaid Monday.

His phone was also pinged at the New River Valley Mall at 4:26 p.m. He was driving a black 2018 Toyota Camry with Virginia license plate number TXW6643. Roop’s car has a Virginia Tech flag sticker on the back.

The sheriff’s office describes Toop as 6 feet, 3 inches tall, and about 240 lbs,NBC affiliate WSLS reported.

“John is not the kind of guy that just goes missing,” Isaac Childress, a childhood friend of Roop’s, told WSLS.

“You have some buddies you don’t hear from in a couple days and it’s just the norm, they do their own thing, but Johnny, he is a family and friend-oriented man," he added.
