Tony Goldwynand Jane Musky’s love has stood the test of time.
Their decades-long relationship dates back to the early 1980s, when Goldwyn was working at a summer theater camp and Musky was on the cusp of working on one of the biggest rom-coms in cinematic history,When Harry Met Sally. The pair dated for five years before tying the knot in 1987, but according to Goldwyn it was love at first sight.
“Jane is just the most incredible human being I know, and she is just a very salt of the earth person,” Goldwyn said of his wife onTodayin 2019. “I knew when I was 21 when I met her, I better hang on because I’ll never come across this again."
Although difficult at times, the pair managed to juggle parenthood and both of their busy Hollywood careers. Goldwyn credits Musky for instilling a strong work ethic in their daughters and being an excellent role model.

During a 2017 interview onLive with Kelly and Mark, Goldwyn revealed it was actually his best friend who had a crush on Musky at the time. “I was in college, and I made instant friends with a guy who is still my best friend and the godfather of my oldest child,” Goldwyn shared. He played wingman on their second date — however, it was Goldwyn who ended up having a stronger connection with Musky.
“He said, ‘There’s this girl I’m obsessed with, and she likes to run, and I don’t have any running shoes,’ ” Goldwyn recalled of how they first met. In exchange for a borrowed pair of shoes, the friend invited Goldwyn to tag along.
“We ended up running up to this beautiful pond and going skinny dipping. He was like, ‘I’m not getting in that water, there’s living things in there, you guys go swimming,’ ” Goldwyn continued. “He kind of stopped running with us, and then Jane and I kept running. We’re still running.”

After five years of dating, the pair exchanged vows in April 1987. In an interview withToday, Goldwyn gushed about the love and respect he has for his wife.
“For me, I just have a lot of respect for her and that never ends. That’s maybe the thing that keeps me so interested in her as a person and I think that’s really important,” he shared.

Goldwyn first caught fans’ attention when he starred as Carl Bruner in 1990’sGhost. The supernatural romance marked the actor’s first time in a leading role — a gig Goldwyn believes he otherwise wouldn’t have landed had it not been for Musky’s persistence.
“Jane’s career kind of took off well before mine did,” Goldwyn explained onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonin March 2024. “Ghostwas a big movie she was doing, and I was an unemployed actor having a tough time.”
“She would come home and say, ‘You know, there’s this role they haven’t cast in this movie.’ I was like, ‘That’s one of the lead roles! They’re never gonna cast me in this part,’ " he continued. “She just kept on me. I finally harassed my agent so much that the assistant in my agent’s office said, ‘I’m going to get you in on that.’ "
And the rest is history.

The pair are parents to daughters Anna and Tess. Born in 1990, Anna is a television editor. Tess, who was born in 1995, is an actress like her famous dad.
In a conversation withFatherly, Goldwyn said it didn’t take long for him to learn that the key to parenthood isn’t spoiling your kids with presents, but showing up for all of life’s little moments.
“Jane and I quickly realized — me being a narcissistic actor — that I could no longer be the center of my universe. It’s not about me. It’s not about her. We tried to always make them understand that they were the center of our lives, as opposed to our careers,” he explained.
“It was me trying as best as I could, given my crazy job, to just show up,” he continued. “It’s hard. I travel for work. I had to bounce around. I would take the red-eye back home — 90% of life is showing up. I couldn’t always but I did when I could.”

While the pair have weathered ups and downs that come with a decades-long relationship, Goldwyn said it all boils down to communication and teamwork.
“I think in our marriage, at times when we’d been having difficulty, we’d just look at each other and say, ‘Are you willing to work on this?’ ” Goldwyn candidly shared during a 2019 interview withToday’sHoda Kotb. “It takes both people to look at each other and mutually agree, even though we’re having a hard cycle, we’re gonna work on it together.”
“Over time, that cycle kind of repeats itself and you work out more and more of the kinks,” he added.
In May 2024, Goldwyn told PEOPLE that “respect” is what makes their marriage work.
“I married someone who I have a very deep respect for, both her professional gifts, but also her humanity and her character,” he said. “I just am always sort of in awe of who she is as a person. That makes our relationship always interesting to me. She’s always interesting to me.”
