Chicago Bulls player Zach LaVine’s basketball career is on the rise, but his wife, Hunter LaVine, has been with him since the beginning.

The pair grew up in Washington and have known each other since they were teenagers. Years after they met, Zach and Hunter married in October 2021. Shortly after they wed, the couple welcomed their first child,Saint Thomas, in August 2022.

Before the birth, the professional athlete opened up to PEOPLE about becoming a father.

Most recently, in March 2024, they welcomed their second son, Elijah, and both have shared about their expanding family on social media.

After finishing high school in 2015, Hunter attended Seattle University.

While at the school, she played on the women’s soccer team as a midfielder. Hunter’sSeattle University athletics bioshared that she was interested in pursuing a career in business.

She and Zach were high school sweethearts

According to her athletics bio page, Hunter was a homecoming princess and a National Honor Society member in high school.

She and Zach got engaged in 2020

After many years of dating, Zach proposed to Hunter in April 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After the proposal, Zach posted about the engagement on his ownInstagram, where he shared photos of the special moment and a close-up of Hunter’s ring.

“My everything❤️ I love you with all of me. It’s been a long time coming, been together since I was 17 !!! My first love and my FOREVER love,” he wrote.

They married in 2021

Zach and Hunter tied the knot on Oct. 7, 2021, but have not shared many details of their nuptials.

A year later, the athlete dedicated a tribute to Hunter onInstagram.

“Happy Anniversary to my Beautiful wife,” he captioned it. “1 year down Forever to go. Love you my Queen.”

She shares two sons with Zach

During Hunter’s pregnancy, Zach said he was focused on her despite being a busy athlete. At the time, he told PEOPLE he was “learning as much as” he could about parenthood.

“Happy wife, happy life,” Zach said, adding that during the basketball season, he looked forward to “being able to come home after good, bad, average games, whatever it may be, just to come home and be dad.”

Less than two years later, Zach and Hunter welcomed their second son, Elijah LaVine, on March 10, 2024. They shared the news in a collaborative post onInstagram, which showed Saint cuddling his new brother.
